We are a small team of talented musicians with a wide range of skills and experience. We love what we do, and we do it with passion. We look forward to working with you.

Rosalyn Harms

Owner and Teacher

What began as an option for school quickly turned into a full-blown love affair with music.  Rosalyn continued through junior and senior high to play in both Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, sang in the choir, and began solo performances when she was fourteen.  She was awarded the Heitman Music award and multiple scholarships upon the completion of high school.  Rosalyn was then accepted into the music program at the University of Calgary under the tutelage of Ingrid Crozman and Stephan Bonfield.  In 2006, she completed her Bachelor of Music Specializing in Secondary Education and European History all while completing the rigorous requirements for her ARCT in Flute, Theory and Music History (RCM).  At the same time, she began the requirements for her ARCT in Piano (RCM). In 2010, Rosalyn was awarded the designation of R.M.T. through the Registered Music Teachers Association of Canada, which was a huge honor.  Rosalyn completed her Bachelor of Education at U of C in 2021.  Rosalyn began teaching in 2002 at both her own studio and at Forte Music. In 2012, she re-branded her studio as RMH Music and has put her energy and focus there. Over the years, Rosalyn’s flute, piano, and theory students have been incredibly successful at RCM examinations, festivals, and university auditions, with many achieving honors and Gold medal awards for excellence. Rosalyn has also created a much sought-after music program for young children called Music and Motion. She has had the opportunity to share this program with children at RMH Music, but also at many schools, including Early Discoveries, Springbank, and many more. Rosalyn is currently playing flute and serving on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Wind Symphony. Rosalyn is passionate about sharing the joy she finds in music.  She strongly advocates for differentiation and fun in music lessons in hopes that students will also find joy and become life-long musicians.  Aside from music, Rosalyn loves to spend time with her family, reading, skiing, hiking, and just enjoying all this life has to offer.

Anna Reidel

Teacher

Anna Reidel

Anna is a second year English student at St. Mary’s University beginning her third year at RMH Music. She was introduced to the piano when she was four years old, and has been passionate about music ever since.

She was introduced to the RMH Music community when Rosalyn Harms–her then-preschool teacher and creator of RMH Music–began teaching her how to play the piano. When she was thirteen years old she continued to learn piano under the guidance of Lindsay Hill-Tout. At the age of fifteen she joined the RMH Music team as a studio admin, and later that year began teaching students of her own.

She loves teaching, so much so that she aims to make it her career one day. She hopes to not only support and uplift future generations, but also create an atmosphere that encourages creativity, individuality, and serves as a safe space for her students to learn and grow. But first, she plans to travel the world.

When she’s not teaching you can find her making pottery, out on a run (or at least attempting to,) or with her nose stuck in a good book.

Marcus Reidel

RMH Music Admin

Marcus Reidel is a Grade 11 student currently attending Notre Dame High School.  He has been taking piano lessons since he was five, played the Tenor Saxophone for school, and has picked up bass and guitar in the past 5 years, playing in his junior high’s concert band, as well as their assembly rock band. Marcus has always had a great passion for music, and is almost always listening to music or playing guitar, even recently starting a band with friends. His  biggest inspirations to play music are TOOL, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Alice in Chains. Marcus also loves photography, playing D&D, drawing and sewing! He has been a part of the RMH community since preschool, taught by Rosalyn Harms, Lindsay Hill-Tout, and Jared Harty over the years. He started working at RMH doing admin work, and now also has started teaching guitar!   In his free time, Marcus enjoys listening to records, taking photos, playing Dungeons and Dragons, spending time with his friends and family, and playing lots of guitar.

Lindsay Hill-Tout

Teacher

Lindsay began playing the piano at the age of 3 and has had a deep love for music ever since. She grew up in a musical household and was inspired by her mom who loves classical music, and her dad who is a classical guitar player. Her passion for playing the piano was further nurtured by her piano teacher of many years, Kristi Leung, who showed her the value of working towards a goal through hard work and consistency both at the piano and in life. Lindsay began her musical education in the Suzuki method and later switched to The Royal Conservatory to begin taking formal exams. She completed her practical exams and theory co-requisites with first-class honours, and  first-class honours with distinction, and is a 4-time gold medalist at the Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival. Lindsay is currently working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Calgary and hopes to pursue a master’s degree in this field. Her interest in psychology is inspired by her love of working with children, which she discovered through teaching music and working in multiple preschool classrooms as an Educational Assistant. Lindsay tries to honour every student’s individuality, tailoring lessons toward the interests, goals, and strengths of her students in a positive, engaging, and patient environment. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, watching movies, baking, playing with her dog and cat, and spending time with friends and family.

CJ Sauve

Teacher

CJ has had a passion for playing the flute ever since she was 6 years old.

Her music journey started with the Cantare program where she learned the basics behind reading music. She then started playing the flute in elementary school, and started taking lessons with Rosalyn Harms. She began taking Royal Conservatory exams at the age of 11 and throughout the years she has accomplished flute levels 1-8 and the accompanying theory levels. She was honoured to have received a gold medal on her grade 5 exam and gladly accepted the invitation to perform in a ceremony showcasing the gold medalists.

In Junior High, CJ played in the school band as well as the jazz band. CJ attended Bishop Carroll High School and played in the symphonic band, wind ensemble, touring band, wind quintet, and flute choir under the direction of Chris Herard and Mary Sullivan. Her touring band was set to play at Carnegie Hall in March of 2020 but unfortunately this trip was cancelled due to COVID-19.

CJ is currently a student at the University of Calgary in a Bachelor of Science in Zoology program. While attending University CJ also plays in the Symphonic Band, and was honoured to receive the position of section leader during the 2021-2022 school year. Along with playing in the band she also plays on the Dinos Ringette team, which has been an exciting opportunity for her.

Outside of school, music, and Ringette CJ enjoys spending time with her dog Ruby and her cat Dice, as well as reading. She also enjoys watching sports, swimming, and bike riding.

Sydney Callaghan

Teacher

When Sydney was just 7 years old her best friend invited her to a year-end performance. Once the music started and lights hit the stage, Sydney knew she was destined to perform. The next year she enrolled in the YouthSingers of Calgary and spent as much time as she could singing, dancing, and acting while loving every second of it! Her time in show choir gave her opportunities to perform on stages of all kinds; Choral Fest competitions, Jubilee Auditorium productions twice a year, competitions held in Anaheim, and even a festival circuit that toured throughout Europe! At 18 she was fortunate enough to spend a few years performing semi-professionally with the YouthSingers SHINE ensemble for many local businesses and festivals.

Outside of show choir, Sydney has eagerly sought out anyway to develop her musical skills. Throughout her life she has dedicated her time to community theatre productions along with dance, private vocal, piano, and music theory lessons. She even took the RCM Theory exams just to develop her own knowledge! Her time in music has taught her invaluable lessons in confidence, discipline, and passion. All of which she firmly believes laid the foundation for her success in school, the workforce, and her own ambitions. More than anything, music has brought Sydney immense joy, a sense of accomplishment, and an overall love for life! All of which she is excited to share and develop with her students in the upcoming year. Aside from music, Sydney is a recent UofC graduate with a Bachelors of Science majoring in Neuroscience. She loves spending her free time crafting, reading, and gardening!
